NAIJAGOSSIP / POLICIES
Copyright & Takedown Policy Respect the work.
NaijaGossip respects creators and rights holders. This process covers articles, photographs, artwork, music, instrumentals and embedded media.
Before you upload
You must own the necessary rights or have documented permission. For music, consider composition, master recording, production, featured performances, samples and artwork. A stage name or file receipt alone does not prove ownership. Keep split sheets, licence agreements and contributor permissions available.
Submitting a complaint
Use our reporting form and select Copyright infringement. Identify your original work, the exact NaijaGossip URL or item ID, the rights you own or are authorised to enforce, your contact details and supporting evidence. Include a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorised and confirm that your report is accurate.
Review and temporary action
An admin logs a case reference and reviews the target and evidence. We may request more information, contact the uploader, preserve relevant records, or temporarily restrict streaming/downloading while a credible complaint is assessed. We do not adjudicate complex ownership disputes solely on the basis of who complained first.
Outcomes
Possible outcomes include correction of credits, confirmation of a valid licence, rejection of an incomplete complaint, removal of material, download restriction or account action for repeated infringement. We may share the complaint with the uploader so they can respond, while limiting unnecessary disclosure of personal contact details.
Counter-notice
If your upload is restricted, respond with the case reference and documents showing ownership, permission, licence or another lawful basis. Explain any co-writing, sample, producer or artwork permissions. Do not upload the same disputed material again while review is active.
Repeat and false claims
Accounts repeatedly uploading infringing work may lose publishing or marketplace access. Knowingly submitting a false infringement claim or counter-notice can cause harm and may have legal consequences. This policy describes our platform process and is not a substitute for independent legal advice.
