According to Reuters, thousands of All Progressives Congress supporters gathered at Ranchers Bees Stadium for the rally ahead of the January 16 presidential election.
The president’s reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and changes to the foreign exchange system, have placed additional pressure on household budgets. Tinubu blamed opposition figures for the problems, but Atiku Abubakar’s spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, rejected that argument and accused him of avoiding responsibility.
Atiku and Peter Obi are among his principal challengers. Economic hardship and insecurity are expected to feature prominently in the contest.
